Gloria for Model Number WED4800XQ0

I had a lint fire in my basement the other day and when the lint caught the air it shoot up soot into my dryer. The soot is only covering half of drum and I just got done cleaning it. Now I am left with a partial yellow drum. Can I get some options, i.e., like painting over the yellow, replacing the drum or even if anyone knows how to get the yellow out, I would greatly appreciate it. I just purchased this dryer and got two days work out of it. Because of my deductable, my insurance doesn't cover squat!!! Thank you for any help!!!

Gloria, you can clean the dryer drum with a spray cleaner such as Fantastick or Formula 409 or a laundry pretreat product such as Spray n Wash or Shout and wipe is down with a damp cloth. Once this has been done tumble a load of old towels or rags in the dryer on a regular or delicate cycle for approx. 25 mins. If the stain is still there you'll have to replace the drum, part number is W10899578. Thanks.

Keith, There is only the rear seal W10612022 felt seal but you would also want to check the support bearings 279441 which are located on the front of unit for being bad.

Hello Mike, The part that is located at the back of the drum is the felt seal. You will lift top of unit by removing the 2 screws under the lint filter and sliding top forward. You will then remove the front panel. Make sure that power is removed from unit before doing this. You will then release the belt and lift drum out. You can access the felt seal from this point.
