Snider, Based on the description it sounds like the issue would be caused by a stuck keypad on the control panel. You will also want to check for loose connection. If the connection is good then replace the control panel.

Last year I replaced the control panel. Months ago the buttons started to only sometimes work. Now, the panel will not respond at all. I opened it up and saw that on the ribbon that connects the control panel to the control board had brown marks where the light colored wires are where the ribbon connects into the control panel. The connection to the control board seemed fine. Does this mean I need a new control panel? Any idea why this is happening?

Pete, You can try to clean the contacts on the ribbon harness with a contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol. If this does not resolve the issue then you would need to replace the control panel 6-917713.

Jim for Model Number MDB8600AWS

My maytag dishwasher shows all lights flashing on control panel, the numbers keep flashing from 50 down to 1 and then back up to 50. I shut the circuit breaker and then re-open and all lights are reset. I am able to run the dishwasher fine, dishes come out hot and clean, however after load is done (maybe 15 minutes later) all lights start flashing again. I am guessing that touchpad and control panel may need to be replaced soon. If I order the parts, do you have a video on your website I can view on how to do install this or do instructions come with the parts?

1 Answer

Jim, It sounds like you have a stuck keypad which is part of the control board 6-917713. To remove the control panel you will need to take the screws out of the inner door panel. Once removed lift door panel up and there will be 4 1/4" screws that hold the control panel in place. These will need to be removed along with other components in the control panel to switch over to the new.
