Ken June 09, 2012 for Model Number ap4423195 I am trying to replace this this on my stove and run into a snag. I have turned off power, unscrewed the control panel from the top of the oven. I ended up completely disconnected the top control panel for the oven. Now I am little stuck. Do I need to remove the top silver portion of the control panel, or remover the two interior screws that are back of the clock display? Those seem very awkward to get to. It looks like I will need to get a small Phillips screwdriver. I have 1 1 -1/2 screwdriver but still can not get at the heads of the screws . any suggestions?
1 Answer Hi Ken. You start by removing all the knobs. Then lift the outer control panel up and off. Then remove the door. Then remove the lower control panel trim assy. Then remove the burner top side screws and lift the top up to access the control panel top 2-corner screws. Then you will have to support the loose control panel assy. This will give you full access to the back of the clock mount screws. Disconnect the side ribbon cable locks on the clock terminal block (if applicable). Then pull out the ribbon cable from the board. Remove the clock after noting all clock connections. Use a cell phone to picture all connections for proper reassembly. After the clock is removed then peel off the rt. side of the membrane off the console face until the complete membrane comes off. Then reinsert the the new ribbon cable through the open slot on the left. Make sure it does not get kinked while correctly reinserting it into the clock board. Line up the #1 terminal correctly as the #2 terminal -to- the ribbon cable is left purposely blank so there is no confusion of the #1 terminal position. Peel and stick the new membrane part # WPW10207928 onto the face of the console assy. Thank You. Read More...
