I have just moved into a house with a whirlpool range. The electonic control (Oven Control Board 9753639) display didn't display, but there was a beeb when I pressed any of the buttons and the oven light and broil button work. The display came on briefly but then faded again and has done this on a few occasions. Any suggestions? The house is in Mexico where electrical codes seem a little different and I found one comment which indicated some controllers require plugging into a grounded receptacle to work properly.

Hello Steve, Oven sensor opened. 1. Measure sensor value (between connector pins) between 1000 O @ 32° F (0° C) and 2697 O @ 900° F (482° C) (approximately 1080 O @ room temperature). If measurement does not correlate to real temperature, disconnect power, replace sensor and refer to steps 3-5. Also measure from sensor connector to sensor casing for possible short. 2. Trace wires and connectors to sensor, from control, then from sensor back to control. If all connections made and no wire damage, refer to step 3. 3. Disconnect power for longer than 30 seconds. 4. Reapply power and observe for longer than 1 minute. 5. If failure remains, disconnect power, replace control, then go back to step 4. Sounds like the control needs to be replaced on the unit If the sensor is new.

Al. If the igniter ohms out between 75-800 ohms cold it should be good. Even if you received a new part, a very minute hairline crack will still open the igniter just enough to not light it. Usually they are packed very good in the box so it will be a rare case if it is open and new. If you have or can borrow a clamp on amp meter, this will aid in diagnosis. Remove the storage drawer. Remove the rear cover inside the back to access the safety valve. Then clamp the amp meter on either lead of the igniter by the gas valve (white). Now command the bake to work. In 30-45 seconds, the amp probe will pull between 3.2-3.6amps and the igniter will glow white. At this point it will open the safety valve and gas flow will ignite. Or if you have a volt meter set to the highest volt scale, it should read 3.2-3.6 vac. If no gas flow, then you need the safety valve. Part # WP9755424. Thank You.
