This is a jackshaft housing used in several types of Murray lawn and garden equipment. The housing connects to the drive shaft which then connects to the pulley that is driven by the engine and various belts. The blade, blade adapter, blade nut, and washers are connected to the drive shaft under the jackshaft housing. In some cases, the jackshaft housing can become damaged or broken and will need to be replaced.If the jackshaft housing has a crack, holes, or other damage, replacement starts with removing the nut from the jackshaft pulley. Remove the bolts from the jackshaft housing so it can be removed. The new jackshaft housing can be replaced using self-tapping bolts. Attach the pulley to the shaft and tighten the nut. Next, the blade can be installed.
