This is a flanged lock nut. It’s designed to apply tension, typically on a joint that needs to have a certain amount of flex. As such, it’s mostly used on snowblower chutes and lawnmower handles. They can remain in place, but with a forgiving connection that can take a beating. The nut size is 3/8, with a thread size of 16. A lock nut will generally last for many years. However, the silicone ring inside will wear down if it’s frequently tightened and loosened. It needs to be replaced when it will no longer reliably remain in place. Generally, this begins as a symptom of slight slippage and worsens as time goes on. Thankfully, whether it’s being used on a snowblower or a lawnmower, this nut is generally straightforward to access. Simply unscrew the old nut, then screw the new nut on until it’s nice and tight. A carburetor gasket is a thin rubber material that provides a seal between two parts. Its primary purpose is to prevent fuel and air leaks. This gasket is installed between the air cleaner and the carburetor. Over time, it can crack and tear due to heat and fuel exposure. When this happens, the carburetor may produce the wrong combustible mixture for the engine. In return, the engine may experience rough idling and flooding. A carburetor gasket replacement is necessary. MTD makes this carburetor gasket replacement. These O rings are replacement parts intended for use in a number of gasoline-powered lawn trimmers. The O rings serve as gaskets and are placed at the entry and exit points in the carburetors where gasoline and air are mixed and the expansion powers the trimmer. Though constructed of durable material, periodically the flow of the air/fuel mix or the rush of expanding air will cause damage to occur to the O rings so they become less resilient and the carburetor functions less efficiently. In these cases, users often decide to replace not just the element of the carburetor but the O rings as well. Users may notice problems with the carburetor when they cannot get an adequate adjustment, allowing the trimmer to function smoothly. They may also have trouble getting the trimmers to start at all or run without smoking. To replace the O rings, remove the air filter cover and carburetor. Once the carburetor has been cleaned, and the gasket and filter replaced, add a fresh mix of 40:1 fuel. The trimmer should start immediately. This OEM sprocket assembly contains a sprocket, which is a circular gear with teeth that engage with the links on a chain to move the chain forward.A new sprocket assembly will be needed if the part is broken in any way or if the sprocket teeth are worn off.
