Jennifer B Kingston , NH March 13, 2016 Appliance: Model 110.26912690 Washing machine would not agitate and would not fill water At first, I thought, maybe I should just get a new washing machine. After all, it is almost 20 years old! I couldn't bring myself to do that and said to myself, let me see if I can figure out what parts I need and see if I can find a video that tells me how to do it and see how hard it is. I’ve never attempted appliance repair before. After figuring out what the most likely parts were, I ordered the water level switch and agitator cam repair kit - I figured for $10 more, I might as well replace the entire unit, rather than just the dogs (I’m glad I did, I think it was actually easier). The parts arrived and I watched the videos again. The three hardest things for me were getting the control panel open (it was a bit different than the video), trying to move the clamp to the end of the hose – it kept twisting in the pliers and I ended up using a zip tie to secure the tubing instead, and putting the washer housing back on and getting it lined up. It took about an hour total to do both repairs. The only other tricky parts were getting the hose through one of the loops – as it had wires going through the “hose side” as well and made it a very tight fit (and I wasn’t able to reconfigure it to move the wires to the “wire side” of the holder – it looked like someone had done this to prevent movement as the wires were taped together in a bundle) and removing and installing the agitator cam assembly – the video said that a ratchet was needed – but I found that the thread of the bold was facing up and really the only thing you were trying to do was to spin the cam assembly off the bolt. I did this with the ratchet, but when I put it in, I tightened it with my hand and used a couple of screwdrivers to tighten it. My washer works like new! This was a very satisfying project! Elijah S Stockton , CA May 24, 2015 Squealing during spin cycle and very weak agitation My parents have the older 80 series washer and dryer that gets used way more than a consumer washer and dryer was ever meant to be used. The washing machine finally said im tired. During the spin cycle it was making a really loud squealing noise and during the agitation cycle it would barely agitate the clothes. So i ordered the basket drive to get rid of the squealing during spin cycle and noticed the dogs on the cams were warn and werent grabbing so ordered the whole cam kit to be safe and some extra dogs for the future. Now it agitates the clothes like a new washing machine and no squealing. The clutch and the coupler i order and replaced just to be safe because it seems to be a common part that goes out on these things. Parts fixed all the problems that i was initially out to fix, but when i was testing it out i noticed that sometimes it wouldnt spin the clothes dry, but if i opened the washing machine and closed it again. It would spin them dry. So apparent the cycle isnt stopping to allow the transmission to reverse and send the machine into spin. Im assuming its a timer problem, so that will be the next and last part i change and everything should be like new again. My dad is definately happy. Only spending a couple hundred bucks to fix the washing machine we have instead of spending a couple grand on new front loading washing machine and dryer like my mom would prefer. Deb C Orlando , FL March 31, 2014 My kenmore washer would not agitate correctly. My Mother was staying with us and used the washer. She told me that I needed to buy a new washer because the agitator was not agitating the clothes correctly. I began looking online to purchase a newer used washer. While searching online I found a video that explained why my agitator was probably not agitating correctly. The dogs had worn out. I then began to search for the parts for my washer. I found several websites that carried them, but AppliancePartsPros.com had better pricing and illustrations. I decided to go ahead and order the complete Agitator Cam Repair Kit because my washer is about 20 years old. I ordered the kit and because they ship from multiple locations around the US, my parts arrived the next day. I followed the video online and had the repair completed in about 10 minutes. I wonder how many people call a repairman or replace their washers because of this simple to repair problem. Terence F Atlanta , GA April 06, 2014 Appliance: Model KENMORE MODEL 11063022101 Washer agitator was malfunctioning. Kenmore washer is 10 years old. At 5 years the same problem occurred and I called a repairman. Watch him do the job and paid him his $135. This part "wears out" from use and was able to locate the part on the GREAT Appliance Parts Pros website. This was easy. Simply remove the one bolt that holds the agitator. Remove the old nylon lugs and replace with new. Now it works like new! Although the part is made by "Westinghouse" it works perfectly with Kenmore. Amazingly FAST shipping. Part arrived overnight! Dan B Chatham , IL September 29, 2015 Washer agitator not turning (upper part loose and clicking lower section still turning) Removed fabric softener cup by sliding the locking ring up and then pulling the container off. Pried open the cover cap. Stuck a 1/2" ratchet extension bar's square end in the hole of the agitator and turned left until it was loosened and could be removed. Put the agitator cam repair kit together. Put the new agitator assembly into the slot and tightened with the 1/2" ratchet extension bar. Replaced cap and snapped in place. Placed fabric softener container back on top so the grooves on the agitator matched up with the slots on the softener container. Slid the softener container's locking ring back down.
