The Thermal Fuse is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens. This part cuts off power to the oven if it detects excessively high temperatures, preventing potential overheating and ensuring safe operation.
Over time, the thermal fuse can fail due to regular use, exposure to high temperatures, or electrical issues.
Symptoms of a bad thermal fuse include:
This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.
Replaced fuse. It took much longer to get the oven out of the wall to access the fuse and replace the front panel than to do the repair. This fuse failed at the end of the cleaning cycle for the bottom oven and left the door locked because the open fuse removed the 120v power from the control board. The locked door made it impossible to remove one of the screws holding the wall oven in place. However, after I ground off the head of the screw behind the edge of the locked door I was able to... The High Limit Thermostat is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool ovens. It acts as a safety mechanism that monitors the oven's temperature to prevent overheating. When the oven exceeds a specific temperature, the high-limit thermostat interrupts the electrical flow to the heating element, ensuring the appliance remains within safe operating conditions. Causes of a bad High Limit Thermostat can include a malfunction due to electrical issues or component failure. It may become unresponsive over time, failing to cut off the power to the heating element when the oven overheats. Symptoms of a bad High Limit Thermostat include:
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Dryer won't heat or stops heating? This high limit thermostat monitors heater housing temperature and cuts power if it overheats. Easy DIY fix.
Washing machine should have been an easy fix that I had done before but ran into problems with the upper bearing and the bearing diameter on the shaft (a no go situation). By the time I was able to get the bearing seated I had damaged the new bearing. Much to my surprise Cierra in customer service sent me out a new bearing kit. I was then able to get the washer up and running with the new bearing kit and motor stator replacement. The dryer was a matter of replacing all of the electrical... Read more
Oven won't heat after self-cleaning? A blown thermal fuse cuts power to protect the control. Requires pulling the oven out to access rear panel.
Like a boss! Seriously, removed oven from wall (2 screws), removed about 15 sheet metal screws from front and top covers, unplugged wire harnesses one (or a few) at a time. Reassembled. Hint. Take a picture of wiring before removing and mark old parts (especially thermal fuse) with sharpie before removing so you don't get confused. It's really hard to tell a used electrical part from a new one. Read more
Oven won't heat or shuts off during self-clean? A blown thermal fuse is often the cause. This safety device prevents overheating. DIY repair in 10 minutes.
This is for the Whirlpool in-wall double oven GBD307PDS10. No power and the door locked after the shutdown before the self-cleaning cycle was over. I watched some video and this is a known issue the fuses blow during self-cleaning. I opened the door with a 90-degree hook, an easy task. Took doors off (watch video from others), unscrewed from the wall, and made a very small platform. and took the oven out (need two people and take the doors off first. The doors are heavy and you won't lift the... Read more
Oven won't unlock after self-clean or control panel is blank? This thermal fuse thermostat protects your range. Easy DIY fix in under 30 minutes.
Based on information found at AppliancePartsPros, I determined that the it was most likely the thermostat (thermal fuse). I removed the rear panel and tested the fuse for continuity and it was bad. I used a jumper wire to bypass the fuse and plugged the range back in. The panel turned on and the oven unlocked. I then removed the thermostat and looked up the replacement part and ordered. This line fuse protects the appliance's incoming power circuit by opening if an overload or short occurs. Replacing a blown fuse can help restore power once the underlying issue is corrected, preventing further damage to sensitive components.
Tested the High Voltage Capacitor which showing no capacitance and no resistance. Replaced it together with the diode and the line fuse no longer blew and the microwave is back in service. Read more
Ice maker not producing ice or overflowing? Failed thermistor prevents proper temperature monitoring. Direct plug-in replacement restores ice production.
There are plenty of DIY youtube videos to show you how to replace the parts. I went ahead and replaced more than just the broken parts. I figured if I had the machine opened up, I might as well replace parts that could go out in the future. I might have gone a bit too far with all the other parts. The only part that was really broken was the wiring harness. Two of the wires had corroded from the sockets and there was no other way than to replace the entire harness. Its a bit tricky to feed... This time-delay fuse protects the appliance's power circuit by opening when current exceeds a safe level while tolerating brief inrush current. Replacing a blown fuse can help restore power once the root cause is corrected. What it does:
I read up on others with this problem of microwave-wall oven combination Whirlpool Gold. We live in a very rural area and were not able to get ANYONE to service it - had 2 companies come out to inspect but they never returned. I have wonderful news! We replaced the fuse, bus fuse, and light bulb (quit working 2 years ago) and all is working. Thanks for the information and for the part diagram. Couldn't have done it without you. Read more
Oven won't heat or stops heating? This thermal fuse thermostat opens the circuit at unsafe temperatures. Common fix after self-clean mode failures.
I was devastated to hear my wife tell me our Whirlpool double oven was dead after she used the self clean mode. After my research, I found this problem to be more common than expected. I kept seeing reference made to Appliance Parts Pros during my research. I went to the website and found the parts I didnt think anyone had. APP was quick, the price was excellent and when I called their staff I found them to be friendly, knowledgeable and thorough! They had my parts to me in no time and I fixed... Read more
This fixed thermostat switches near 60C to control a heat-managed circuit—often the oven's cooling/blower fan. Replacing a failed unit restores proper fan cycling and helps protect the control area from excessive heat during and after cooking.
Following the instructions that I received through the helpful research of the APP staff, I disconnected the power, disassembled the back of the oven, and accessed the hidden element. This involved bending parts of the sheet metal and cutting the insulation, so I was very apprehensive about doing this. Once I exposed the compartment that contains the element, I had difficulty extracting the old part and was really nervous about pulling hard to extract it - until I saw the damaged element. It... Dishwasher won't power on? This inline fuse protects your dishwasher's wiring harness from electrical overload. Restores circuit protection quickly.
This fixed thermostat protects the appliance by opening the circuit when excessive heat is detected. Replacing a failed or weak thermostat restores reliable over-temperature protection and helps prevent heat-related shutdowns.
I measured the resistance between the two connectors on the magnetron: should be close to zero ohms and it was. I measured between the same connectors and the metal case: should be mega ohms, it was 15k ohms. That is a bad, partly shorted unit. I also checked the resistance of the thermal cut off, which should be zero but was 10 ohms so I replaced. The HV diode is checked with a 9 V battery (YouTube checking microwave HV diode) and it too was bad. Make sure to take pictures as you disassemble... Read more
