Rick B October 19, 2015 for Model Number MDG5500AWW Last week my dryer just quit working. Nothing lights up on the console, won't start. Like it's unplugged. Tested for power going to the circuit board, and there is. I don't know if the console or the circuit board is bad. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Rick
1 Answer Hello Rick. If there is power to the board, and the unit is dead, it sounds like the board 33003028 is bad and will need to be replaced. You can try unplugging the ribbon cable and reseating it and see if the panel starts working. Read More...
Jim H September 28, 2015 for Model Number MDG5500AWW To help save my marriage...My Heater stops heating after about a minute. The Igniter glows, after a few seconds the gas flame starts and looks good. Then it just clicks and goes off. It happens in sensor and timed dry mode. Timed mode stayed on a few minutes longer. I checked the Ohms and tested everything I could unplug and got the proper Ohm resistance readings according to 100s of YouTube videos. What could be causing this? Mother board? Coils? BTW I already replaced the Maytag L225-40 Thermostat Part# 303395, but it works the same as before. I want to fix this myself and be the hero of the family. Any advice would be great. Thank you so much. Jim
1 Answer Jim, The first check to make is the exhaust vent, check and make sure the venting and vent hood aren't kinked or clogged, and the vent hood isn't blocked or crushed. Then set the timer for a timed dry setting, and let the dryer run 15 minutes or so, then check the resistance of the coils on the gas valve. The coils can and will check proper when "cold" but if they operate and "heat up" the resistance will change and in most cases will fail in this amount of time. Read More...
Eric May 18, 2015 for Model Number MDE5500AYQ My faithful dryer of 10+ years stopped working halfway through a load of clothes. The message "do" comes up on the display. I know normally this means the door is open, but the door never opened during the cycle. I tried opening & closing the door, unplugging it from the wall outlet, turning the circuit breaker off & on, and switching the door so that it opens in the opposite direction(thinking maybe it was the connection on the one side). When I open the dryer door, I noticed that the drum light did not come on(I have since replaced the light bulb). All the lights on the display still work. I have consulted the owners manual(which was no help). I am not sure where I need to start for repairing my dryer and I really don't want to go buy a new dryer.
1 Answer Hello Eric. It sounds like the door switch W10169313 may be bad and need to be replaced on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

The dryer can sit idle but sometimes code 8.8 returns and we repeat the heating pad process to use dryer. Is there another part other than electronic circuit board that can cause this problem. I am aware the board is no longer mfg. do you know of anyway to get CD/SD's for this model. We have owned machine since 2001 and have not has any problem until Dec. 2014. Thank You
