Brenda April 03, 2013 for Model Number MTF2656DEW Bale arm is in correct place and is not broken, will stay up but will not turn off Ice maker, water inlet inside freezer has frozen up and caused water to run down the outside of the back of the refrigerator.. Should I replace the icemaker or is there another part that is controlling the shutoff. As for the inlet cup freezing do I have another problem?
1 Answer Brenda, If the bale arm is in the correct position and the icemaker is not shutting off then you would need to replace the Motor module W10190935. Also if the fill tube is frozen, you will want to clear fill tube and replace the water valve due to the water valve WP61005273 is allowing a little water to flow through even when the icemaker is not calling for water. Brenda April 02, 2013 for Model Number mtf2656dew My ice maker will not shut off when the arm is raised, arm is not broken, stays in up or down position, will replacing the arm fix this problem?
1 Answer Brenda, It sounds like the arm is not in the correct position. If you pull the icemaker out and check to make sure that the arm is in the hole on the back part of the front assembly. If it is not then it needs to be in this position as this is the shut off gear. Read More...
Denise D. November 04, 2012 I have a Whirlpool refrigerator and the shut off bale wire is not working on the ice maker. There's no play in it. It doesn't stay up. Do I replace the wire connection or the actual wire?
1 Answer Hello Denise, The problem is internal in this case so the ice maker assembly or the motor module will require replacement. We normally supply a part number but, with no model number, since appliance parts are model specific, we need the model number to provide you with the correct part number. You can either re-post with the verified model number or you can call in and one of our representatives will be happy to look up the part number for you. Read More...
James April 02, 2012 for Model Number RB21KA4AF This arm fell off and I can't see inside to reattach it. Does the cover of the box come off, and if so, how? What is the best way to reattach it?
1 Answer Hello James. If you use a small mirror you can see the slot that the bale arm goes into. No disassembly is required to install this at all. Read More...
James April 01, 2012 for Model Number RB21KA4AF My ice shut off arm has fallen off. how do i re-attach? can i take off cover of the sencor box? (if so how)
1 Answer James, You don't really need to remove the mechanism cover, But if you want to, you can use a flat blade screwdriver and insert it into the slots molded into the bottom of the mechanism and twist. If anything, you may want to remove and disconnect the icemaker. The 90 dgr. bend in the arm will be inserted in the round opening of the water inlet housing WP628356 and the other(wiggly) end will be inserted into the slot of the white nylon hub on the backside of the mechanism control head D7824706Q. you have to alihn evrything first, then press the arm into the hub, until it seats and "clicks" into place. Paul V June 28, 2011 for Model Number MTB1956DE Ice maker is filled with ice in tray, but I can not eject. The sensor arm is missing. Should I shut off the water, then defrost the ice tray, then put in the sensor arm? (The sensor arm was missing when I returned from 6 months in Iraq and my wife doesnt know where the arm went.)
1 Answer Hello Paul. You can install the sensor arm without thawing the ice. You can actually install it with the icemaker still in the freezer. You will want to install the end in the fill cup first, and then install the other end into the module. Hope this helps. Read More...
