This set of two slide shoes is a genuine OEM replacement parts-set for a snowblower. Slide shoes rest on the bottom of the auger housing and help it to glide smoothly against the ground. This lets the auger gather snow without the housing bumping up and down. Every snowblower has two slide shoes: one on each side of the auger housing. They are positioned so that the center openings face outwards. Slide shoes take a lot of abuse while sliding along the ground. Even though they are made of sturdy steel, they can still be banged and dented to the point that they need replacing. If heavily dented, they may no longer glide smoothly and impede the blower's effectiveness. To replace damaged slide shoes, use a socket wrench to unbolt them from the auger housing. Be sure not to lose the mounting bolts, as they will be used for reassembly. This set of slide shoes is designed to be used with Huskee, MTD, Yard Man, and Yard Machines snowblowers. This replacement part is a short block. It is a genuine replacement part made by MTD. A short block is a part that is found inside the engine. It comprises a portion of the cylinder block below the head gasket but above the oil pan. This helps the engine run smoothly overall as well as start and stop the engine efficiently. A new short block might be needed if the user notices that the current one is damaged in any way including being bent, dented, cracked, or chipped. If the user hears unusual noises coming from inside the machine it is possible that the short block is malfunctioning. This can be due to normal wear and tear over time.
