This replacement part is a hex screw, and it is intended for use in different types of lawn equipment. This is a genuine replacement part made by MTD. This screw can be used in a variety of ways depending on the repair needed. Hex screws are similar to normal screws except they have a six-sided head, like a hexagon. This lock washer is used frequently for a number of applications on power yard equipment. The size, 5/16, is the default for many small engine housing and manifold applications. Lock washers are used with machined bolts to fasten engine blocks to the housing of the equipment being used.
