Laurent for Model Number MAH4000AWW

When the washer pauses to reverse direction during tumbling and there is a loud squeak/clunk when the tub starts to go. Almost like when something that turns is loose and when it starts to turn it is spinning within its space until it finally makes contact and grabs hold. The machine also has started making a slipping sound when starting to tumble. Sort of a double whir like the belt is slipping twice before it catches and starts to turn. It doesn't really do it on smaller loads, but when you wash, say, a load of towels, it does the double skip. I want to order all bearings and a motor. I've heard bad bearings before and it doesn't sound like that when spinning, but I'm desperate to keep this machine going for another 19 years so want I to change anything that needs to be done before parts are no longer available. Thank you

Hello Laurent, You should install the Neptune motor conversion kit. This replaces the motor and the motor control board which may be the source of the trouble. We would need to ask you to please post a new question including the serial number for your unit to recommend the part suggested by the manufacturer since there are more than one. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Fred, With the unit not draining then it will not spin. You will want to test to see if the drain pump is getting 120 vac to it. If it is but not draining then you will need to replace the drain pump. The drain pump part number is WP25001052.

Hello David. The motor drive system experienced a momentary loss of neutral feed from the power cord to the Motor Control Board. The neutral line for the Motor Control Board passes across the water valve solenoids. Neutral to the motor drive system can be momentarily lost If there is poor crimping of any of the wire terminals in this circuit. This situation could result in a misdiagnosis and unnecessary replacement of the Motor or Motor Controller Board. Current Neptune front load washers will indicate a false locked rotor signal to the Machine Control Board. Washers with a LED display will flash code “LR” in the display. LCD washers will display “Locked Rotor.” The earlier built front loaders will not display a code, but simply shut down in mid-cycle or will not start. Pull each terminal of the white wire harness connected to each water valve solenoid and verify the wire is properly stripped and crimped to the metal terminal connector of the wire harness. Make sure the wires fit snug on the terminals of the water valve solenoids.

Paul for Model Number Maytag Neptune MHW2000AWW

Appears to be a phase problem with the motor/motor control board - growling and failure to operate. No visible damage to motor control board PN 6 2710600 and resistance on motor windings checks at ~ 2 ohms. Don't want to replace with redesigned parts if I don't have to, as the unit is in a closet and it is very hard to get access to the back. Is it at all likely that the problem is isolated in the motor control board and that replacing it alone will solve the problem? Any way to diagnose a motor problem?

Hello Paul. The motor is reading bad. However, depending on the serial number, you may need the kit with the motor and board.

Hello Yolanda. Make sure the hose is not to far into the stand pipe and is causing a siphone issue. If not, check the balance switches and the spin enable switch.
