Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ice maker stopped producing ice   William W. • Southampton , NJ • July 31, 2015

My first hour: I investigated first by pulling out refridgerator to see if the water line hose was kinked. I started under the kitchen sink where it begins, coming from faucet water supply. Then I followed it to the back of the fridge to see if anything looked odd. Next I went to the ice maker itself. I investigated the ice maker by removing the freezer food sliding tray and hanging tray, and then unscrewing the door off the slides. When I looked inside at the ice maker, I saw the tube where... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ice maker stopped working in mid cycle after filter change.   Stephen L. • Kawkawlin , MI • December 29, 2021

After researching a number of sites for a diagnosis I tended to think the culprit was going to be the ice maker thermostat. Checking pricing and availability of the thermostat prices were very close at $40 BUT wait now you have to but the thermo mastic at another $35-$40. And after some continued research the factory ice maker in a $3000 msrp 4 door refrigerator was/is known to be defective long after warranty period expires. So it only made intelligent sense to buy the entire icemaker at a... Read more

Fix a refrigerator that stopped making ice with this complete ice maker assembly. DIY-friendly installation takes about 10 minutes with basic tools.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The icemaker stopped making ice   Dennis B. • Reno , NV • October 10, 2014

I replaced the icemaker. It was fairly easy, with the most difficult part being access to the icemaker in the bottom freezer. I loosened two screws, removed one additional screw, disconnected the wiring and removed the old icemaker. I mounted the wiring harness and ice level sensor arm from the old unit onto the new icemaker and installed it with no problems. I wish I'd done this months ago instead of repeatedly attempting to repair the old icemaker. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ice tray mangled.   Benjamin M. • Seattle , WA • April 11, 2020

Replaced ice maker unit. 4 screws to remove cover on inside door. 2 screws for ice maker. Three connectors: ice maker on/off switch, LED light, wiring harness connector. A second person assisted by bracing the door for me, but not necessary to get the job done. I also used some cellophane and tape to cover the door opening for the 5 minutes it took to replace the unit. Again, not necessary, but it was quite warm out and it kept the freezer contents from thawing out. Appliancepartspros.com had... Read more

I watched the AppliancePartsPros.com video, which made the replacement of an ice maker look pretty easy. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You No ice no water no nothing   Beverly H. • Corinth , TX • November 15, 2014

After doing all the tests to determine the problem it turned out that it was likely the motor in the ice maker.
