Olivia, You will want to check to make sure that the drain pump is getting 120 vac to it. If there is proper power to the pump but not draining then check for clogs in the pump and hoses and if this checks ok then the pump would be faulty. If there is no power to the pump when draining then the issue will be a faulty control board.

Hello Steve. That part is the check ball for the sump. It will not cause it to have the issue your having. Either the unit is not filling all the way up to where it should fill up to. Or the pump is bad and is not pushing enough water to circulate.

Sam, Check the float switch circuit 154773201 , float down the circuit should be "closed", lift the float and the circuit should "open". Check the wires, especially at the bottom of the door, make sure there are no loose or frayed wires. If all's OK, replace the timer 154465901 .

A piece of a broken glass somehow got thru and jammed the pump (that pumps water out). I took the DW apart, checked and cleaned everything and every part seems to work. The top arm is not spinning, however. I can see water going up and running out of the spout. From other Q&A on this site, deduced that it is not getting enough water. I manually add (perhaps 1/2 gallon) of water and the arm does move (how much I don't know). If it is not getting enough water, what controls or determines when the cycle should start. I assume there has to be a float switch to determine when the unit has enough water (or is this just a timed event?). The DW was in the house when we bought it and we always thought it takes a long time to run thru it's cycles. We timed it the other night and it takes nearly 3 hours to wash. Is that normal? Thanks in advance.

Water continues to pour from the bottom of my dishwasher even after replacing the splash guards, tub seal, and bottom door seal. I looked under the dishwasher while it ran, and noticed a drip coming from the bottom of the overfill protector. I've also noticed that the water tends to pour out during the filling of the tub. Could this be an indication that the overfill protector is not working, and is there an electrical factor involed in the function of the protector. Im wondering if this is a repair that I could do myself without electrocuting myself :) Thank you in advance.

Sheeba, The new float would be held in the same as the old. It has 2 little prongs that keep it in place. You just push into hole to install the float.

I am getting water building up under "what appears" to be the float. I'm not 100% certain, but when I feel the switch under the float, there's water dripping from it. It could be coming from somewhere else, but I'm not sure where. I have already replaced the tub gasket and that didn't solve it. I have pulled the float out and inspected it, and it looks to be operating as designed. What else could be causing water to leak there? Is it worth replacing the float? Tony

Hello Tony, You will want to check the spray arms to make sure that there is no cracks or clogging. If the spray arm is cracked it will cause water to ripple and with the rippling it will allow water to leak out the hole for the float.

Hello Jerry, The water level is controlled by the control board in conjunction with the float. The float is more of the shut off when the tub is full enough. Your water level should be just lower than the heating element. You will also want to check the impeller and tubes to make sure that nothing is clogged. Also check to make sure that the upper spray arm is not clogged.

Recently our dishes have been coming out dirty, the top rack barely gets wet. I've noticed that the spray arm turns very slowly...8 secs for a quarter turn....and the water level barely covers the filter - is this normal?. I've also noticed a humming - not quite a whine- while it is running. I'm wondering about the float. It seems to move freely and pulls out easily. Is it supposed to? If the valve were bad would it let any water come in at all?

1 Answer

Hello Matt, You would want to check to make sure that there are not obstructions in the pump assembly. An obstruction or debris will cause this type of issue to occur. The water should fill over the filter and if the valve were bad it would let very little to no water into the unit. The float will lift out easily.
